︎Exceptional Alien
As the founding Editorial Director for Sydney-based media start-up, Mikaela deployed her knowledge of storytelling to innovate in the editorial space and build a dynamite platform that celebrates people and their connections to place.

Check out the site to get a feel for her editing chops and clock some hot travel tips from the likes of Nat Geo photographer Michael Yamashita, Diet Paratha founder Anita Chhiba and hip-hop golden boy Yung Raja. Mikaela also led the editorial direction on commercial partnerships with Atout France, Tourism New Zealand and Visit Victoria.

︎Tourism Australia
Working freelance for Tourism Australia’s Business Events team, Mikaela took on the project management for digital quarterly Australia Next magazine. From ideation to writing, interviewing, editing and liaising with designers, Mikaela acted as a one-stop-shop to help Tourism Australia get the mag out across five key audiences.

︎Monocle
In 2015, Mikaela was the second staffer assigned to Monocle’s publishing arm, where she assisted with the development of what became one of the business’s most profitable revenue streams. In this post for three years, Mikaela edited seven books including Monocle’s Travel Guides to Berlin, Amsterdam, Munich, San Francisco, Beirut, Melbourne and Zürich, Geneva & Basel; edited chapters in The Monocle Guide to Building Better Cities and How to Make a Nation; associate edited Monocle’s Travel Guides to Sydney and Copenhagen; and wrote and researched for over 20 titles.
